Agility
Rhymer's first love is agility -- he loves to go fast, which
is great since his agility career has only just begun! Rhymer
also helps me in classes with emotionally-troubled kids. He's
currently working on his MACH with his co-owner Mike Padgett.
Conformation
Rhymer is my first show dog, and finished his Championship
in style, including a four point specialty major! Rhymer
was shown to his Championship by his breeder, Jane Hammett
(Shadow Hill Shelties). He is now back home with us and
will continue to work in agility and herding.
Herding
In addition to agility and conformation, Rhymer is also
very strong in the herding field. We hope to pursue this
more in the near future.
At
the 2003 Nationals...
At the National, Rhymer took 1st place in 16" Open
Jumpers and 2nd place in 16" Open Standard. What was
more valuable to me was what he proved he can do on Thursday.
Rhymer was entered in Am. Bred and Herding Started, with
a huge ring conflict. When he was called for his herding
run, he was still in the breed ring with his handler, Jane
Hammett. The herding judge held the trial for us until Rhymer
was done in breed. After Rhymer made the cut in breed, he
was literally pushed under the ring gates to me by Jane.
I ran him to the herding field, where he got his 1st HSAs
leg with a 6th place. Then he went back into the breed ring
with Jane for the final round. This is what a Sheltie should
do!
